Low tide at Bosham by Cameron Weller
Arundel Art Society was formed in 1977 by local artist Thelma Hall with Percy Ward as Chairman and Max Hall as our first Treasurer. Our first President was Juliet Pannett, nationally renowned painter of Queen Elizabeth, several Prime Ministers and many other famous people.
Our link to those early years continues as several current members have been here since then. They include our current President, Cameron Weller, a professional Marine and Landscape artist for many years.
Meetings originally took place in what is now the Norfolk Centre but we moved to Clymping Church Hall in 2006 for the improved light and space. We have participated in the Arundel Gallery Trail since its inauguration in 1988 and also hold a Spring exhibition, usually back at the Norfolk Centre.
In 2018, we now look forward to holding the 40th Anniversary of our very first exhibitions ... in May we will be in the Norfolk Centre and from 18th to 27th August we will be in the Cathedral Centre. We aim to make these extra special ... and something that would make Thelma Hall, Juliet Pannett and every other member proud!
More details will follow as the year unfolds.
